Hello, town family! If you don’t know me yet, I’m Simone, your friendly neighborhood journalist and newsletterist — and I’m here in your inbox on this shockingly pleasant spring Thursday with your regular guide to everything there is to do around here. Yippeeeee. Better roll up your sleeves, cause we’ve got a whole heaping wheelbarrow full of springtime events on our community calendar this time around. The abundance includes:
Healdsburg’s two biggest rosé parties, at the height of spring
A chance to pitch your favorite single friend to a room of suitors at Little Saint, for the roving “Date My Friend” night
A new season of “Dry Creek Fridays” at our rural general store
A giant sale this weekend in the Garrett’s parking lot
And a handful of “makers markets” with artisan treasures
Wonderful ways to spend May Day, whether you’re into flowery maypoles or workers-rights movements (or both!)
Solid plans for Mother’s Day, too — plus gift-making workshops
An auto-care crash course at Fincher’s for the ladies
A deluxe dinner cooked by Healdsburg High culinary students
And more local events for the soul… all of them happening in Healdsburg, unless otherwise noted 📍

Healdsburg resident Betsy Selby just sent me this impeccable pic of her cat Gizmo — whom she rescued recently from our local animal shelter — smelling some jasmine blossoms in town, with Fitch Mountain rising in the background. Doesn’t get much more Healdsburg than that! And if you’d like to immerse yourself in more of the season’s local flora and fauna, Healdsburg street photographer Ron Keeley has been on a real snapping spree this week; see his latest pics here. 😻😻 (Photo: Betsy Selby)
Pssst! Hey, you. Yes, you. If you’re a fan of this newsletter, I’d love if you could share it around with anyone else in your life who might dig it, too. Just forward them this email or send them the following link to subscribe, so we can get everyone on board. Because local tea is best sipped in a circle of friends. 🫖
NOW, HOW’S THE WEATHER?
In short, as I mentioned: It’s shockingly nice out right now. I highly recommend you walk outside and feel it for yourself! For bonus points — shut your eyes, lick your pointer finger, raise it toward the heavens and get your own witchy read on what’s to come. And if that’s not working for you, here’s a more formal forecast for Healdsburg this week, courtesy of the National Weather Service:

Oh and before we move on to the calendar, it’s time for a quick April rainbow watch…

And here’s another great double-rainbow pic that Rosalie Pochan took of the now-famous twofer over Healdsburg on Wednesday, April 8, at the Spoke Folk bicycle shop on Center Street. Turns out a rainbow is the perfect hat for a Quonset hut! (Photo: Rosalie Pochan)
AIR OVER HEALDSBURG

No chance of rainbows today, though. Here’s what the baby-blue air overhead looks like this morning, with the last of the fog wearing off... (Photo: Holly Wilson)
ON THE CALENDAR
Featured event (from my sponsor!)
Groundbreaking ceremony for the new Healdsburg extension of the SMART train at the Foley Family Community Pavilion (Fri, May 8, 1-3pm)

It’s been around 70 years since a passenger train last passed through Healdsburg — but the SMART train plans to break our dry spell in 2028, when Healdsburg’s old Hudson Street train station reopens for service. And two Fridays from now, on the afternoon of May 8, we’re all invited to come celebrate the official start of the construction process with a groundbreaking ceremony at the new Foley Family Community Pavilion on North Street. This will also be your first chance to hop on the SMART merch train! Attendees will enjoy “complimentary refreshments, commemorative T-shirts and swag,” say the folks at SMART. RSVP here.
