Whew! What a weekend. The sun is high, the breeze is heaven, our clocks just frog-jumped an hour into the future, the wild turkeys are splaying their tail feathers… and all the little lizards are fresh out of hibernation, doing shaky pushups on the hot rocks of Healdsburg. Meanwhile, I’ve mistaken like three different sticks for rattlesnakes already this weekend, because I can sense them waking up nearby, beneath their wintertime wood piles. Indeed — if you close your eyes, you can almost feel Our Lady Spring pushing her plump goddess body up against the other side of the veil, about to bust through. And what better time for a long, lazy lunch of local news? I’m here, your humble server, with another newsletter full of everything you need to know about what’s been going on in Healdsburg, in the two weeks since we last skimmed the headlines. This time, we’ll cover…
Resolution for the Silveira family after their local car dealership was broken into last month
Some surprising crime trends from the Healdsburg Police Department’s annual report
New rules making it easier to build homes within city limits
What developers are planning for Grove and West Grant
Why a TV news crew came to town on Friday

Summer Camp registration now open for 2026!
I’ve talked to you before about how much I love The Bishop’s Ranch — the sprawling, 365-acre wonderland out Westside Road that hosts retreats and trail hikes and monthly “forest church” Sundays and so much more. But what you may not know is that each year during the warmer months, the hills of The Bishop’s Ranch come alive with the sound of hundreds of kids attending magical weeklong summer camps. The Ranch will be hosting five different sessions this year in June and July — each of them specially crafted with a certain focus for a certain age group. Learn more and see the full list of camps here. ✨
On a recent visit, I did a walkthrough of the sweet little circle of cabins where the kids stay during these camps, and I felt an instant nostalgia for the summer-camp lifestyle. Campfires! Bunkbed sleepovers! Pool days! Arts and crafts! Games and songs! Adventures in nature! Aka, the kind of experience that kids remember for the rest of their lives. These local camps are also super affordable compared to similar offerings at other properties — and The Bishop’s Ranch offers tiered pricing and some scholarships, in hopes that everyone who dreams of attending can make it happen. So yeah, grab a spot while they’re still open. And if you’re interested in working as a camp staffer at The Bishop’s Ranch this summer, you’re welcome to apply here. June can’t come soon enough… 🍉

The Bishop’s Ranch is Healdsburg’s very own slice of Narnia. If you’d rather explore this land on your own terms, The Ranch also offers retreat weekends for individuals and families several times a year; check out the schedule here. (Photos: The Bishop’s Ranch)
NOW, HOW’S THE WEATHER?
Welp — the wine country doesn’t get much more stunning than this. Parkland Farms resident David Reed and Healdsburg street photographer Ron Keeley have been documenting the past week or two of springtime lite in Healdsburg, via the up-tempo “Thankfully There’s Healdsburg” Facebook group — from our gleaming local riverways, fat off winter rains, to our bright-green vineyard valleys. “Oh what a glorious day in Healdsburg!!” David posted on Friday morning. And things only got warmer and fuzzier from there. Looking ahead, too, weather officials are warning us to watch out for lots more gorgeousness to come.
